Home stretch

Countdown: 8 days. 8 days to hurry up and get this darn scarf finished and blocked!!!!

THANKS Cynthia SO MUCH for getting that extra skein for me, you are a life saver! (haha, everyone enjoy the picture? I tried to mimic the one from my last post, so it looks like my ball of yarn magically grew. Shutup! I am amused.)

Thursday! Finally. Tonight nothing is going on, but tomorrow is finally Friday! Pay day (thank goodness)... and then a nice weekend of KNITTING KNITTING KNITTING. lol. And hopefully a fair amount of sleeping.

Ugh, i drink too much diet coke. I think I will die of an aspartame overdose. But at least I will be caffienated!

Alrighty, back to work. (hah). Knit on!

Can you smell the progress?

Is it any longer? Anyone? Bueller?????

Well it is slightly longer... that picture is taken with my elbow resing on the bottom edge of the scarf... so it is now that much longer than my forearm. Yipeee..... I am in that black hole of knitting, where the scarf is just slooooowly creeping along. I am a bit nervous too... dad's bday seems to be looming ever closer. it's practically mid july!!!!!!! EEK!

Jessica is the IHS queen... she has finished one and is already contemplating another. I wish I had her speed!!!! although, my problem might be the huge addiction that is WoW. Sooooo addicting. I have to make myself work on the scarf before I let myself play. Ha!

OK back to work. Anyone want to hit up Three Rivers Festival this week?
:-D

Just what I need...

Another WIP! Lol.... I am crazy. But at Walmart the other day, Cynthia and I found the Peaches n Cream cotton (i know, at walmart? I was surprised also), so I HAD to buy some. Great colors too. And the perfect pattern? Ballband dishcloth from the Mason-Dixon Knitting book!!!!! This is my first time knitting with cotton, and I am really enjoying it. The texture of the yarn is awesome.

I am also proud that I am slipping stitches purlwise like a pro, and also that I figured out that 'yarn front' and 'yarn back' weren't any more complicated that they sound. :D I am so smart. lol

OK bedtime. Busy weekend!

Just for fun

I got my mason-dixon knitting book today!!!!!!!! It is one of the coolest knitting books I have bought. I want to make everything in it, lol!

One idea i got from the book was knitting with strips.... of things.... like old tshirts or rags..... or plastic bags:

LOL! Yes, I knitted a plastic bag. Morbid curiosity maybe? I took one plastic grocery bag, and cut it into thin rings (cut off the handles and the bottom first)... and then chained the loops together to make a sort of yarn. (This process is described in the mason-dixon book!) So that picture is of a (roughly) 3inch by 3inch square, knitted from one plastic bag. Whew, imagine what it would take to knit a floor mat or something! haha.

Anyway, it was fun and pointless, i just wanted to see if I could do it. Now i need to get back to THE BLANKET! Eesh.

quick post

Does it look any bigger???? I think I am halfway done, at least! I hope my cousin doesn't think i forgot about this, haha.

Didn't get that much knitting done this last weekend, Saturday I went to the beer tent at Germanfest with a bunch of friends! It was very fun. Beer, crazy folk style music, beer, roasted nuts (so goooood), and more beer! :-D And I kept running into people I knew too, which made me feel special.

OK back to work!

WiP Day

OK! Time to reveal the current WiP, including the much anticipated cabled scarf (ha).

Project Numero Uno:

Baby Blanket. I have made it to the second skein! Woo hoo! Wanting to get to that second ball was great motivation last night to knit, so it is looking longer and longer!!!! I have to make sure I work on this the most so I can hurry up and give it to the kid while he's still a baby!

P.S. Check out the awesome quality of this picture... yay for natural light and yay for my cell phone! Also notice my lovely remote controls, magazines, and knitting books scattered on my coffee table. :-) p.s. The knitting book in the middle is "Sexy little knits"... reccomended by Crazy Aunt Purl and subsequently ordered off of Amazon... pretty cute stuff in there!!!!

Project Deux:

Cabled scarf for dad! Doesn't need to be done until August, but once I started knitting it, and taught myself how to do the cables, (woo hoo!!!!) I got all excited and knitted a bunch of it...haha... it's really not that hard, and I love how it looks! It's called the "Irish hiking scarf" also, which is perfect because my dad is irish. :) Knitting with Green Mountain Spinnery yarn.

Project three:

Gryffindor scarf.... on hiatus. This thing is on the back burner for now, but it doesn't need to be done until winter time anyway! Hopefully after the above mentioned projects, I will put some more work in on it.

Project quattro:

Waiting on yarn. My first sweater!!!!!!!!! I am going to knit the hourglass sweater from last minute knitted gifts. I have my order in for some beautiful dusty lilac colored yarn. I can't remember what kind it is right now. Heh.

OK well hope everyone has a good Thursday, they are throwing a barbeque here at work for lunch, AND it's a dress down day, so mine is going good so far!

knitting at... lunch?!?!?

Surprise, I am knitting on my lunchbreak! Hah... wherever did I come up with the name for this blog anyway? yeah, so...

Look at that cute little yarnover. Isn't it adorable? Lol... I was in mid-row, and felt like taking a picture. I am still plugging away at that ol' blanket... a little each day. I hope I can get it done before the kid is in high school!

Today is COLD and RAINY. So much for a nice spring day in mid-may. Sheesh. I could even see my breath this morning. Indiana = lame.

Alright, back to work. Happy friday! (Gonna go out tonight, woo hoo)

progress!!!

Woohoo! It is actually starting to look like a blanket! (My hand included as a size gauge) It now could keep a small puppy warm, or maybe be considered a short wrap for your shoulders. I must say, living alone is nice because I have had lots of time to hang out and knit! I am really enjoying this pattern. I can't wait to get it done and mailed off to my cousin. Then I can make myself get back to the harry potter scarf. Oh that scarf.... I love knitting with the cascade, but the straight stockinette really makes my brain melt after awhile. I will have to start another patterned project to keep me interested. Possibly a scarf for my dad? (The only member of my family that I haven't made a scarf for yet???) I am going out of town tonight to see several people graduate tomorrow! Drinking will commence after... the commencement. Oh yes, it will be a hazy and probably queasy sunday morning, but I am anticipating a good time. :-D OK well everyone have a good weekend, I hope I will have internet in my apartment next week so I can post more often. Adios!

Quick post!

I moved! I love my apartment! I have so much freaking room.

This is a quick post from work, since I do not have internet set up in my place yet.

The pic is the "backside" of my blanket... it's the picture I couldn't get to load in the other post.. but I like the design. i think i have done another set of the pattern since that picture. Yay for yarnovers!

OK well hope everyone is having a good week, I sure am! :-D Bye!

Moving Day Eve

Baby blanket!!!! I am making this for my cousin Meg's baby, who is the cutest little boy ever. This is a picture of the front. I wanted to show the back too, because it looks really cool- sort of a "faux cable" look, but my phone is being stupid and wont send the second picture, even though it sent the first. Oh well!

AND.... Tomorrow I am moving into my apartment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally. Heh. I heart my parents, but I am going to loooove living alone. In my last apartment that I lived in for 2 years, I had 2 roomates. So this is kick ass. Look how clean my desk is in the background of the picture! Savor that sight, once I move in it will be cluttered yet again.

As I told Cynthia, there is going to be yarn EVERYWHERE... haha.. not really, but it will be great to spread out.

OK, big day tomorrow, nite all!

Success!!!

Ta da!!!! Wow, a Finished Object! I almost forgot what it was like to have one of those, it's been so long. My glove thing FINALLY has a partner! Right now the second one seems a bit smaller, but Im guessing that has to do with the fact that ive been wearing the first one for awhile, so it might be stretched out.

Hmm... that leaves me with only ONE WIP! This sounds like time for a new project! Now, what should I make next?!?

Obligatory puppy picture. because he is that cute.

Back from the Dead!

Surprise!!!! Yes, I FINALLY decided to pick this project back up. Anyone even remember this??? (an original creation) I am wearing the one glove-like thing I finished a WHILE ago, and am holding down last night/today's progress on glove #2! Woohoo... I forgot what it was like to knit on tiny little needles (size 3), and it's fun. I need to start another tiny project like this one!

Mmm, I had a chick-fil-a wrap for lunch, yum.

Oh we got our new computers at work, and I am so happy... a new little Dell tower that can sit ON my desk instead of the floor, and one that has a headphone jack in the front so I can ACTUALLY listen to music on my PC! Pandora.com is my new best friend. And I got a brand new keyboard, which is a Godsend after using the old nasty dirty one, ugh!!! I feel like I am typing faster on this one too.. haha... I just wish they had given us optical mice.. oh well, I am happy!

Back to work!

FREE?!?

THANK YOU CYNTHIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cynthia, who is the best knitting buddy ever, gave me some of this cool vintage yarn that she got a whole ton of for free from one of her friends! I am excited, especially since my stash is pretty much nonexistent. (teeny tiny) Woo yarn! Now I have to see what the heck I can make from this stuff. All of it consists of two strands held together... which I haven't knitted with yet, so that should be a good experience. Cynthia suggested making different patterned squares with each and then sewing them together to make a blanket, which is a good idea. I hope to try and play with this yarn a bit during lunch today!

I love the cream/rose colored combo in the upper right... somehow that color combo makes it feel extra-vintage-y. Yay for making up adjectives! The blue/grey yarn is fun because the blue strand is kind of velvety.

What to make!!!!! If anyone has any cool ideas for any of these yarns, feel free to comment.

So last night was not too shabby... my parents are gone on vacation until thursday, so it's nice to have the house to myself. My brother was over, so I cooked up a quick dinner of one of those skillet sensation things and some frozen garlic bread. Super quick AND delicious, I am quite the cook (ha). Actually I felt guilty that I didn't REALLY do any cooking, so I made cookies...lol... jam thumbprint cookies, Mmmm.... I was going to bring them to work today, but I didn't have enough jam, so I think I will get some tonight and bring the cookies in tomorrow. Otherwise I will eat them all. And that will be bad, since the goal here is to LOSE weight.

peace out.

What??? KNITTING in a knitting blog????

Look, you can ALMOST see some progress!! Haha... this scarf is very slow-going, but it is going to be nice when it's done. I heart cascade 220!!!!!!

And did I mention I took this gorgeous picture with the camera in my SHINY new cell phone???? I heart it! It's a Motorola v815 or something like that. (e815?) But yeah, I finally caved in and got my first cell phone. I feel proud I made it to age 23. So there!

Hopefully I will be able to work on it at lunch today, since I keep getting preoccupied with other stuff.

In other news, my final four picks fell through.. haha... i mean, george mason? where are these places? :-)

And WHY ISN'T IT WARM OUTSIDE YET???????

OK, back to work. (goofing off till lunch). Au revoir!

Indiana weather rant

Monday: High, 68. Sunny, but windy. Ran outside in the (fairly) nice weather.

Tuesday: High, 38. Snowing when left for work.

WHAT THE HELL?!?!?!?!?!

This has been a test of the emergency Indiana weather system. Please continue your winter as if monday's nice weather never happened. That is all.

:-P
