CAKE!

Good thing my nephew was born last week, because next week is my Fiance's birthday!!!!!

I won't post his age online, although I will say it starts with a 3 and ends with a 0. Hahahaha!!! OLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well to help celebrate with his family tomorrow, I baked him the bday cake of his choice:

Lemon Cake with Raspberry Mousse.



IT TURNED OUT GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I baked 2 additional "mini cakes" so we each could taste the cake before its debut tomorrow.



I was a bit put off at first, since it uses a store bought cake mix, but it was so easy and had several mix ins that personalized the cake and made it DEELISH! The tart lemon cake is offset by the lightly sweet whipped raspberry cream frosting - and then a layer of raspberry filling in the middle. Just the right amount of texture and flavor.

I was excited to whip actual whipping cream. I believe I achieved "soft peaks" with success, although I really didn't know what I was doing. :-)



I am adding this to my repertoire for SURE!

Guess what! I have a new nephew!!!

Holden was born on Tuesday and he was 7lbs 11oz!!!!!


Isn't he so cute??? Look at that hair!!!!!

I spent a lot of the day helping play with his older brother Cash(who turns 2 in May):

Dress Shopping!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I went on my first outing to look for a wedding dress yesterday. I took my mom and my future MIL and it was a lot of fun!!!!!!!!!! They are both great helpers/note takers/photographers!!!!!

I really can't post any pics though, can't let the DF see anything yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just thought i would share. It was definitely an exhausting afternoon though, some of those dresses felt like they were made out of drapes! Whew!

I have picked up my hourglass sweater.

Originally started in Feb of 2007 or so, it has been ripped out once and restarted, and now I am finally back on it making progress.

The body is knit up to the armpits.


I have started a sleeve!


It is all very exciting around here folks... I might even get to wear it this year! (ha)

I also finished a cute little baby boy hat to go with my blue booties with ties:


It will be a gift set for my fiancee's coworker.
