The cat blanket is a success!!!! YAY!!!!!! Shawn says her kitties love curling up on their blanket for a nap, and even fight over it. AWESOME!
Gotta get crackin' on my HP scarf!
Happy birthday to my brother! He had a blue moon at the restaurant we went to. Mmmm!

another project.....sheesh
Well I had fun this last weekend. Friday I went to this sports bar, Frikkers,... pretty good! Had some Killian's (yummm) and some fried veggies with ranch sauce, mmm, And then Saturday I hung out with my friend Shawn, watched the IU v PU bball game (IU won of course, wooo!) and taught Shawn how to knit!!!!! It was very cool... and we decided to jointly work on a blanket for her apartment. I already have one square done, and another one started!
I figure since the center block is just garter stitch, she can help make most of those, and I can worry about adding the borders. But the colors(and yarn) will be the same as the cat blanket I made for her. Matching, haha! It is soft yarn. I may have to make one for myself.
Yay monday is over! My brother's 21st birthday is wednesday... and this weekend I am going to take him down to Bloomington to hit all the awesome smoke-free bars, as long as he remembered to ask off work.... heh. Woo!
Have a good week everyone!
p.s. krispy kreme makes evil donuts that force me to eat them!!! :-P

American Idol and knitting
Well I have two yellow stripes done now on my HP PoA scarf!!!! It is looking so good, and the Cascade yarn is wonderful to knit with. I am going to use as much of it as I can for my tetris scarf without going broke... heh.
So I watched American Idol last night, it was the first round show, so almost everyone was horrible. Pretty hilarious really. And Simon was making some really horrible remarks about the people too. Sure he's horrible, but it was fun to hear my mom gasp in horror every time he made fun of someone. Also, at the end, they had a montage of a bunch of non-winners singing the lady marmalade song, hahahaha... so so so bad. I would be in the losers group with them though. My talent is not singing. I mean, I can keep myself from going off-key, thank goodness, but that's as far as it goes. Not like I am really upset about that though. I mean, as much as I would love to humiliate myself on national TV...
And it snowed! Finally it looks like January should look like outside. I was getting really sick of the rain, because we will have enough of that in the spring. I wasn't super thrilled when I had to clean off my car... but I don't mind taking the good with the bad. If only people could grasp the concept that even though it snowed, the plows salted and swept the highway clean, so you DONT need to go 35mph on a road with a 65mph speed limit. Really, it's okay. See the clean blacktop? You can go fast on it! I promise. Snow on the shoulder will not jump out and get you. At least in my experience, it hasn't.
OK back to work... someone go make a snowman for me!!!!

This shows the colors the best...
Look at that progress, whew! :)

HP progress!
Harry Potter scarf!!!!! I am ALMOST to the first stripe. So that's exciting...
Oh, and today at lunch, Cynthia taught me how to do faire isle knitting, and then intarsia... wow! I was doing the fair isle all right, but it's going to take me a bit to master intarsia. For those of you who don't know, those are both fun ways of using different colors of yarn on a single row. But yeah... it's not as hard as I thought, so that's good, if I am going to eventually make a tetris scarf!
I'm out!

Morning rant
OK, my friend Joe left a comment about me making a tetris scarf. I think this would be pretty kickass. I am going to use my nifty cool knitter's notebook that Tina got me (THANKS TINA!) which has graph paper in it, and I will see if I can plan it out.
I still need to give the cat blanket to shawn... I hope she likes it!
Let's see, what else... I need to work on my other "handless" glove thing, it's really silly to just have one, and I keep putting it off, haha. And I need to make a hat for my mom. And then I want to start my boyfriend's harry potter scarf.... which I have the needles for, hmm.. maybe I will start that first. And then there are another 50 projects I want to do. Ha! I need to stop surfing the net, finding cool patterns to make... and focus on trying to FINISH some. :)
So my mom bought some Special K cereal the other day. I was initially skeptical, because I figured it would taste like pencil shavings, and plus the serving size was 3/4 cup. (come on!!!) But then I noticed it was vanilla almond, and that it was delicious. It's like vanilla almond frosted flakes. It's hilarious though, on the box they say "Lose 6 pounds in 2 weeks with Special K!!!".... but the way this works is that you have a serving of cereal for breakfast, and a serving for lunch, and a normal dinner (leftover pizza?). All I have to say is 1 1/2 cups of cereal is NOT going to last me from 7am until 5:30pm. No freaking way. Even if I eat it for breakfast I have yogurt too. The box has a nice picture of some anorexic woman on the back, who is running a marathon for breast cancer. NO THANKS (to the anorexia, not the run). Almost friday....

Photo evidence of my dorkiness...
Cat blanket!
Today was pretty relaxing... I went to visit Cynthia at the Wool Barn, it's a very cozy store!
I also took a nice 3 hour nap this afternoon... I am pretty sick, so it was really nice. I plan on another one tomorrow ;-).
But meanwhile: cat blanket! it's done! Not too bad... I enjoy how soft it is, it makes me want to make a large blanket out of this yarn for myself.
Whew,... now to work on my mom's hat before it's summer, haha.
Nite!

new years!
Whew! Sorry it has taken me so long to update this thing. I had a long, fun new year's weekend. I ended up going to Cincinnati to my friend E's place... it was fun! Lots of champagne and all that... mmmm.
Stash picture!
This is a lovely pic of my current stash, minus a few skeins I bought the other day.
You can see my growing pile of knitting books, and a bunch of leftover yarn there in the front.
This is the yarn (lion brand homespun) I used to make my mom's scarf, (which I will eventually get a pic of), and I bought more so I can make her a matching hat, which is cast on, but not too much past that... I got distracted by other projects. :-)
Harry potter scarf yarn!!!!! (Cascade) And I finally got the needles for it this last weekend also! So I am excited about starting that soon.
Can't start it yet though... I am making my friend Shawn a cat blanket... and I am nearing the end! I have all 4 of the middle squares done, so I just need to sew them together and then do the border. I showed her the colors today and she loved them, so yay! Pics will ensue when I am done. (looking at plain squares is not very exciting)
So tonight was fun, I went over to Shawn's and we made shrinky-dinks. I even made a little yarn one, because I am cool like that. And an evil penguin one. But yeah, shrinky dinks are the shit.
little yarn shrinky dink.
Evil penguin!!!!
Well it's bedtime, because I am sick, and never get enough sleep anyway. At least it's FRIDAY!
nite!
